Giving to IU School of Social Work

Give Online - Click HereThe practice of social work is shaped by the changing needs of society. The ability to adapt and respond to change, solve problems, express ideas and appreciate diversity are all components of an education in social work. The IU School of Social Work embraces these components in its mission to educate professional social workers for practice in the 21st century.

Your gift to the IU School of Social Work through the Campaign for IUPUI will allow the school to pursue new opportunities for scholarship that will prepare students to be compassionate, effective leaders in the field of social work in our communities and beyond.

Since 1911, when the earliest courses in the field of social work were offered through the Department of Economics and Sociology, the IU School of Social Work has played a vital role in preparing professional social workers to advocate for all people, and in particular, the citizens of Indiana. The IU School of Social Work, formally established in 1944, has for many years contributed to the advancement of just social, political and economics through excellence in teaching, scholarship and service.

Today, the IU School of Social Work is an innovative institution committed to being the best. Outstanding full-time faculty provide a balance of classroom and field experience and research and scholarship. Moreover, the program is enriched by a core of part-time professional practitioners who bring their experience in the field to bear in the classroom.

In addition to strong, dedicated faculty, the school works closely with community partners. Faculty spend time in the community collaborating with community agencies and organizations to develop, implement and test new models of intervention. These partnerships support the school's need for practical experiences and research information, while supporting the community's need for new knowledge and creative interventions responsive to society's challenges.

Today, outstanding, committed professionals in the field of social work are more important than ever to the quality of life in our community. To ensure increasing numbers of talented people choose to pursue their educational goals in Indiana, the School of Social Work seeks to substantially increase its investments in student scholarships.

Student scholarships are the drawing card that attracts the best students. Outstanding students motivate their peers, energize faculty and raise the level of scholarship in a program. Collectively, bright students heighten the entire profile of the school and later become leaders in the field of social work.

We invite you to invest in the school's commitment to the future. Your support can make a difference in the lives of generations of students. The School of Social Work seeks to raise $250,000 through the Campaign for IUPUI. Gifts to the campaign will enable us to endow all current scholarships.

Your generous gift will help to ensure capable, talented students have the opportunity to become tomorrow's caring practitioners.
