In a letter nominating Dr. Miller for the teaching award, School of Social Work Dean Michael Patchner wrote, “By any measure Dr. Miller is truly a gifted teacher. Students love him, his teaching, and his courses.”
Last week, two other School faculty members learned they too will receive university awards. Dr. Carol Hostetter, an Associate Professor, will receive the Herman Frederic Lieber Memorial Award. Dr. Lisa McGuire, an Associate Professor, will receive the Thomas Ehrlich Award for Service Learning.
The university awards will be presented at the Celebration of Distinguished Teaching dinner in Bloomington on March 27th.
Dr. Queiro-Tajalli will receive her award at a celebration at the Indiana Roof Ballroom on March 3rd. “We look forward to presenting Irene with this well deserved recognition at the “Indiana Salute to Women: The Torchbearer Awards,” the Indiana Commission for Women wrote in a letter notifying her of the award.
In recommending her for the award, Dean Patchner wrote, “Dr. Queiro-Tajalli is a talented, enthusiastic, and accomplished individual who has assumed a pivotal role in social work education and human services in a quiet and non-assuming manner.”
Recipients of the Torchbearer award are being recognized for their outstanding achievements and work in Indiana.
