Cournoyer Publishes Three Texts during 2004-2005 The Evidence-Based Social Work Skills Book Dr Barry Cournoyer’s book, The Evidence-Based Social Work Skills Book, was recently published by Allyn & Bacon (2004). In it, he defines evidence-based practice as involving “the mindful and systematic identification, analysis, and synthesis of nomothetic and ideographic evidence of practice effectiveness as a primary part of an integrative and collaborative process concerning the selection, application, and evaluation of service to members of target client groups.”
The Social Work Skills Workbook Dr Barry Cournoyer recently completed the fourth edition of The Social Work Skills Workbook, published by Brooks/Cole-Thomson (2005). This popular text is used by more than 100 schools or departments of social work throughout the United States. This newest edition contains many revised sections, including an updated chapter on ethical decision-making, and links to numerous web-based resources.
Social Work Processes Dr Barry Cournoyer recently co-authored the seventh edition of Social Work Processes, published by Brooks/Cole-Thomson (2005). This classic social work text, originally written by the late Dr. Beulah Compton and Dr. Burt Galaway was first published 30 years ago. This newest edition has been substantially revised and updated and now includes contemporary practice-relevant exercises that engage students in exercises that involve scholarly searches of bibliographic and related online resources, critical analysis of the professional literature, and numerous writing exercises designed to enhance professionalism and practice effectiveness.
